This book presents a selection of peer-reviewed contributions to the fourth Bayesian Young Statisticians Meeting, BAYSM 2018, held at the University of Warwick on 2-3 July 2018. The meeting provided a valuable opportunity for young researchers, MSc students, PhD students, and postdocs interested in Bayesian statistics to connect with the broader Bayesian community. The proceedings offer cutting-edge papers on a wide range of topics in Bayesian statistics, identify important challenges and investigate promising methodological approaches, while also assessing current methods and stimulating applications. The book is intended for a broad audience of statisticians, and demonstrates how theoretical, methodological, and computational aspects are often combined in the Bayesian framework to successfully tackle complex problems.

The town of Sorrento in East Lake County, named for the picturesque coastal town in southwestern Italy famous for its abundance of orange and lemon groves, was first settled in 1875 by the William Butts family. That same year, five bachelors from Ohio arrived--among them being Albert Matlack and Ed Averill, who were instrumental in the development of this new community. Matlack, who opened the first mercantile business with Charles Adams, surveyed, charted, and mapped the new town, while Averill built the first tourist hotel, called the Averill House. By 1882, many motivated new settlers arrived, which prompted swift growth in t...
Barren County, located in the heart of south central Kentucky, was formed in 1799 and is the commonwealth's 13th largest county. Pioneers found the land without the usual, extensive wooded areas and so it looked barren to them in comparison. The area is anything but "barren," as its land and population have been productive in agriculture, commerce, education, medicine, and the military. Voted in 2007 by Progressive Farmer magazine as the "Best Place to Live in Rural America," the county has also produced one of the South's first African American mayors, two governors, renowned musicians, a Pulitzer Prize winner, two Congressional Medal of Honor recipients, a major television network president, and a U.S. Air Force general. Countless other citizens, equally productive, proudly call Barren County their home.
