Trends in Internationam Migration 2003
This report analyzes recent trends in migration movements and policies in all OECD member countries and in selected non-member countries. It includes a detailed description of the flows, the different channels of immigration and the diversity of nationalities involved. The report also underscores the contribution of immigration to population and labor force growth and reports on the changes in the sectoral distribution of foreign workers. In addition, it reviews selection policies in relation to labor migration, especially those regarding skilled foreign workers, and examines limits to these policies. The report also presents measures aimed at improving the management of migration flows, recalling that cooperation with origin countries remains a priority for migration policies. Multiculturalism and Integration

Integration has been suggested as a better term and policy. Critics suggest it is a reversion to assimilation. However integration has not been rigorously defined and may simply be another form of multiculturalism, which the authors believe to have been vital in sustaining social harmony.
