This is a true story about a young woman who arrived into the UK as an Asylum Seeker. She dreamt of the new beginning she and her family were going to enjoy, there were so many things that she had heard; her disabled husband would get the treatment he so badly needed for the injuries he had suffered from the war in their country. Her son would receive the education that would enable him to have the future that she had wanted for him. Her dreams were soon to be shattered and her life was almost destroyed.
Art Accustomed Eyes
Collecting and promoting art was at the heart of John Gibbs' life although his friends and colleagues knew little of the extent of his activities, and the wider art world knew even less. He and his wife Sheila challenged our concept of collecting, acquiring works for public and educational institutions as well as for their own family, including the youngest children. This book reveals for the first time how they created one of the first confident collections of contemporary Welsh art, and demonstrated the value of modern art in Christian faith. The collections they created include works by Ceri Richards, Lucian Freud and Paul Nash, all acquired to help us appreciate the power of art.

Highlights of NIH Women's Health and Sex Differences Research
What started as a collection of two or three brief examples from each IC was eventually expanded into this extensive and exciting document. This occurred because of the overwhelming and enthusiastic response of the ICs through the NIH internal advisory Coordinating Committee on Research on Women's Health (CCRWH), composed of IC directors or their designees. The ORWH proudly presents this report, entitled Highlights of NIH Women's Health and Sex Differences Research, 1990-2010, in which the ICs themselves have identified their best examples of women's health and sex differences research. It is even more encouraging to note that these highlights by no means are intended as a comprehensive list, but represent "snapshots" of examples from the 20 years of ORWH's existence.

Bringing together the diverse and marvelously articulate voices of women of Irish and Irish-American descent, editors Caitriona Moloney and Helen Thompson examine the complicated maps of experience that the women's public, private, and literary lives represent—particularly as they engage in both feminism and postcolonialism. Acknowledging Mary Robinson's revised view of Irish identity—now global rather than local—this work recognizes the importance of identity as a site of mobility. The pieces reveal how complex the terms "feminism" and "postcolonialism" are; they examine how the individual writers see their identities constructed and/or mediated by sexuality. In addition, the book traces common themes of female agency, violence, generational conflicts, migration, emigration, religion, and politics to name a few.
