This book explores the relationship between diverse social movements and Marxist historical cultures during the second half of the twentieth century in Western Europe, with special emphasis on the Federal Republic of Germany and Italy. During the Cold War, Marxist ideas and understandings of history informed not only the traditional Communist Parties in Western Europe, but also influenced a range of new social movements that emerged in the 1970s in the wake of the 1968 student rebellions. The generation of 1968 was strongly influenced by neo-Marxist ideas that they subsequently carried into the new social movements. The volume asks how Marxist historical cultures influenced third world movements, anti-fascist movements, the peace movement and a whole host of other new social movements that signaled a new vibrancy of civil society in Western Europe from the 1970s onwards.
A dead child - sadistically murdered - his twin missing. A ring procuring children for the rich and powerful. A sinister organisation led by a shadowy figure known only as 'The Stoatmaster' whose cold tentacles seemingly stretch unendingly so that no place and no one is safe - not even the police. A Muslim detective, himself a twin, whose background renders others suspicious of him. His ruthless intelligence and tenacity converge to an obsession with finding the missing child and her brother's killer. His problem - he wants to leave the police. One last case can be a case too far when a child's face relentlessly haunts you - pulling you further into the abyss and your own family is in danger of disintegration. When depravity is licenced by money and everything, even a child, has a price, the only word left is 'evil'.

If you think that being old is about having a rocking chair and an easy life style, think again. You're looking through the binoculars backwards. What's Age Got To Do With It? turns the lenses the right way around and gives a clear, Scriptural view of God's purpose for old age. When He created the universe, God set in motion times and seasons and the ageing process. Old age was part of His plan from the beginning - that people should ripen to maturity, developing wisdom through a lifetime of experience and relationship with Him, eventually enriching others with attributes that have been honed over lifetimes. But instead of contributing as God intended, many see themselves as "useless" and ar...

The Roman era in Britain produced a time of population movement within its borders. One such group traveled from North West of the island to the relative peaceful area around the City of Litchfield in the heart of England. Their deep rooted beliefs were suppressed with the arrival of Christianity and its absolute doctrines. Although forced to conform some inhabitants still remembered and practiced certain ways regarding the old days. Their focus centered on an old tree rumored to have magical powers regarding their lives and predicting future events. This great tree was referred to as the "Druid Tree" and it became a customary visiting place for travelers and locals. As each generation passed beneath its limbs so the stories became legends for the 'ancients' to pass down to other generations. Each era within English history has at least one story connecting local inhabitants with the great tree and its 'stones'. Oh Yes! And then there were the 'stones'.
