Digital Human Modeling and Applications in Health, Safety, Ergonomics and Risk Management. Human Body Modeling and Ergonomics
This two volume set (LNCS 8025-8026) constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Fourth International Conference on Digital Human Modeling and Applications in Health, Safety, Ergonomics and Risk Management, formerly International Conference on Digital Human Modeling, DHM 2013, held as part of the 15th International Conference on Human-Computer Interaction, HCII 2013, held in Las Vegas, USA in July 2013, jointly with 12 other thematically similar conferences. The total of 1666 papers and 303 posters presented at the HCII 2013 conferences was carefully reviewed and selected from 5210 submissions. These papers address the latest research and development efforts and highlight the human aspects of design and use of computing systems. The papers accepted for presentation thoroughly cover the entire field of Human-Computer Interaction, addressing major advances in knowledge and effective use of computers in a variety of application areas. This two-volume set contains 91 papers. The papers in this volume focus on the following topics: digital human modeling and ergonomics in working environments; ergonomics of work with computers; anthropometry, posture and motion modeling.
Integrative Production Technology
This contributed volume contains the research results of the Cluster of Excellence “Integrative Production Technology for High-Wage Countries”, funded by the German Research Society (DFG). The approach to the topic is genuinely interdisciplinary, covering insights from fields such as engineering, material sciences, economics and social sciences. The book contains coherent deterministic models for integrative product creation chains as well as harmonized cybernetic models of production systems. The content is structured into five sections: Integrative Production Technology, Individualized Production, Virtual Production Systems, Integrated Technologies, Self-Optimizing Production Systems and Collaboration Productivity.The target audience primarily comprises research experts and practitioners in the field of production engineering, but the book may also be beneficial for graduate students.
Advances in Ergonomic Design of Systems, Products and Processes
These proceedings summarize the best papers in each research area represented at the 2015 Annual Meeting of the German Gesellschaft für Arbeitswissenschaft, held at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) from February 26-28. Engineering Psychology and Cognitive Ergonomics
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Engineering Psychology and Cognitive Ergonomics, EPCE 2011, held in Orlando, FL, USA, in July 2011, within the framework of the 14th International Conference on Human-Computer Interaction, HCII 2011, together with 11 other thematically similar conferences. The 67 full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. The papers are organized in topical parts on cognitive and psychological aspects of interaction; cognitive aspects of driving; cognition and the Web; cognition and automation; security and safety; and aerospace and military applications.
Integrative Production Technology for High-Wage Countries
Industrial production in high-wage countries like Germany is still at risk. Yet, there are many counter-examples in which producing companies dominate their competitors by not only compensating for their specific disadvantages in terms of factor costs (e.g. wages, energy, duties and taxes) but rather by minimising waste using synchronising integrativity as well as by obtaining superior adaptivity on alternating conditions. In order to respond to the issue of economic sustainability of industrial production in high-wage countries, the leading production engineering and material research scientists of RWTH Aachen University together with renowned companies have established the Cluster of Excellence “Integrative Production Technology for High-Wage Countries”. This compendium comprises the cluster’s scientific results as well as a selection of business and technology cases, in which these results have been successfully implemented into industrial practice in close cooperation with more than 30 companies of the industrial production sector.
