As the title suggests, Amnesia explores South America as a forgotten continent within the context of a dominantly Western art world, examining how the issues reflected in contemporary discourse have been formed, shaped, and processed through a colonial history. Serving as the first major introduction of many of these artists to an international audience, this exhibition catalogue traces a variety of artistic, political, and cultural issues through the work of sixteen contemporary artists from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru, and Venezuela.
