The Socialist Workers Party (SWP) is a communist party in the United States. Originally it was a group in the Communist Party USA that supported Leon Trotsky against Soviet leader Joseph Stalin, and placed a priority on "solidarity work" to aid strikes. Opposition factions continued to support the theory of permanent revolution and the Trotskyist label, and they anticipated that the SWP leadership was reassessing its place in the Fourth International.
