New Perspectives in Diasporic Experience
This volume was first published by Inter-Disciplinary Press in 2014. Taking a transcultural and interdisciplinary approach to Diaspora studies, New Perspectives in Diasporic Experience offers a wide range of new and challenging perspectives on Diaspora and confirms the relevance of this field to the discussion of contemporary forms of identity construction, movement, settlement, membership and collective identification. This volume investigates constructions of diasporic identity from a variety of temporal and spatial contexts. They explore encounters between diasporic communities and host societies, and examine how diasporic experiences can contribute to perpetuating or challenging normalised perceptions of the Other. The authors discuss how visual and literary representations become an integral part of diasporic experiences and identities. Other themes examined include communities’ attempts to reverse the negative effects of Diaspora and maintain cultural continuity, as well as generational differences and dialogue within the Diaspora, and the power that individuals have to negotiate marginal identities in diasporic settings.
Feminist Subversion and Complicity
Feminist Subversion and Complicity interrogates a specific form of feminist practice, that which has involved engaging with state and international institutions to insert gender knowledge in their development interventions. Bringing together contributions from eight feminists located in very different kinds of institutions and spaces from Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and India, this book is the outcome of a deeply reflexive process to produce a critique from within of this present day feminist practice. An array of experiences and encounters are scrutinised - from bringing feminist perspectives to governmental projects on education, health, and legal reform to transformations in the discourses and practices of women's movements and feminisms as they encountered developmentalisms. The writers show that feminist politics is not merely assimilated in governmental projects but that it interrupts these projects even as it is assimilated; a feminist politics in which complicity is often a subversive activity, is destabilizing and contesting of meaning.

TRANSLATION STUDIES
This introductory chapter explains the different translations theories in India and the world. It also narrates the short history of translations in India and abroad. Though it is difficult to define translation in specific words, one can give various definitions to show the different ideas related to translations. Oxford dictionary of English language defines translation as “The action or process of into turning something from one language to another”. It is true that dictionary is not basically meant to define terms like translation. Yet the dictionary has used the word ‘something’ which needs to be explained here. According to this definition anything from a simple word to a work of art can be covered under this term translation. This covers a vast area and may mislead the basic concept of translation as we view it generally.
