Epidemiology of Occupational Health
The present manual tries to respond to the specific needs of occupa- tional health epidemiology. Rather than a comprehensive review of the subject, the book presents a series of articles. The first four chap- ters deal with general principles and definitions in occupational epi demioligy and describe the work-related hazards and diseases. Chapter 5,6 and 7 deal with information collection and the use of data in the assessment of health risks and in descriptive epidemiology. General methods for epidemiological studies are discussed. The following chap ters address specific aspects such as the study of combined effects, the statistical analysis of epidemiological data, the validity as- pects of epidemiological studies, including consideration on the pro- blems of 'false positive' and 'false negative' results and the basis for causality judgment or the particular interest of experimental epi demiology in occupational health. Chapters cover two special issues of importance to workers' health, namely occupational stress and the epidemiology of accidents.
OPLL
This publication brings together information on all aspects of OPLL - epidemiology, etiology, diagnosis, and treatment. It contains contributions by Japanese researchers and surgeons, including members of the Ministry of Health and Welfare Investigation Committee, and by American surgeons with expertise in the field. Until now, little has been published on the subject in English. This collection of reports is amply augmented with illustrations.

WHO Handbook on Indoor Radon
This handbook focuses on residential radon exposure from a public health point of view and provides detailed recommendations on reducing health risks from radon and sound policy options for preventing and mitigating radon exposure. The material in the handbook reflects the epidemiological evidence that indoor radon exposure is responsible for a substantial number of lung cancers in the general population. Information is provided on the selection of devices to measure radon levels and on procedures for the reliable measurement of these levels. Discussed also are control options for radon in new dwellings, radon reduction in existing dwellings as well as assessment of the costs and benefits of different radon prevention and remedial actions.
