Understanding South China Sea Geopolitics
The South China Sea is fast emerging as a major zone of conflict in the East Asian, especially Southeast Asian, geopolitics. This book studies South China Sea geopolitics with reference to its past. It does not revolve round the territorial disputes and their historical character and legality but rather focuses on the larger context of traditional intermingling of regional and extra-regional actors.
Contiguity, Connectivity and Access
This volume examines themes like contemporary factors shaping the emergence of the Bay of Bengal region as a critical strategic theatre in Indian foreign policy; the inter-connectedness of the Indian and Pacific Oceans; the importance of oceans to security and commerce and India’s role within the broader region; the twenty-first century maritime Silk Road and Indian alternatives and the possibilities of reconnecting disconnected spaces through re-imagining a Bay of Bengal Community. Optimization of multiphase permanent magnet synchronous machines on system level with reduced losses
The requirements of an electrical machine (EM) in Electric- (EV) and Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) are high power density, a stator and rotor field with low harmonic content and best acoustic behavior. Six-phase permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSM) have significant benefits over conventional three-phase PMSMs, such as reduced current per inverter phase leg, less fundamental losses because of a better winding factor and increased fault tolerance. This book constitutes the proceedings of the 5th OpenSHMEM Workshop, held in Baltimore, MD, USA, in August 2018. The 14 full papers presented in this book were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in this volume. The papers discuss a variety of ideas for extending the OpenSHMEM specification and discuss a variety of concepts, including interesting use of OpenSHMEM in HOOVER – a distributed, flexible, and scalable streaming graph processor and scaling OpenSHMEM to handle massively parallel processor arrays.
