The issue of regularity has played a central role in the theory of Partial Differential Equations almost since its inception, and despite the tremendous advances made it still remains a very fruitful research field. In particular considerable strides have been made in regularity estimates for degenerate and singular elliptic and parabolic equations over the last several years, and in many unexpected and challenging directions. Because of all these recent results, it seemed high time to create an overview that would highlight emerging trends and issues in this fascinating research topic in a proper and effective way. The course aimed to show the deep connections between these topics and to open new research directions through the contributions of leading experts in all of these fields.

Academic Freedom in the European Context
This book explores the concept of academic freedom from a European vantage point. Drawing on both philosophical and legal perspectives, the editors and contributors analyse the concept of academic freedom within the present institutional setting. Academic freedom has long been considered a natural part of higher education, but as the world enters the digital age, a renewed understanding of its role and the threats it must face is required. The authors question the purpose of science without freedom, and subsequently the purpose of political communities without free science. Although the book uses European case studies to answer these questions, it undoubtedly has global relevance: what would be left of the present notion of the ‘global world’ were we to conceive of its character without modern science? This book calls for a critical re-examination of the academic community and its own understanding of the sources, conditions and aims of scientific practice.
Elliptic Regularity Theory
These lecture notes provide a self-contained introduction to regularity theory for elliptic equations and systems in divergence form. After a short review of some classical results on everywhere regularity for scalar-valued weak solutions, the presentation focuses on vector-valued weak solutions to a system of several coupled equations. In the vectorial case, weak solutions may have discontinuities and so are expected, in general, to be regular only outside of a set of measure zero. Several methods are presented concerning the proof of such partial regularity results, and optimal regularity is discussed. Finally, a short overview is given on the current state of the art concerning the size of the singular set on which discontinuities may occur. The notes are intended for graduate and postgraduate students with a solid background in functional analysis and some familiarity with partial differential equations; they will also be of interest to researchers working on related topics.

Mathematical Results In Quantum Physics - Proceedings Of The Qmath11 (With Dvd-rom)
The volume collects papers from talks given at QMath11 — Mathematical Results in Quantum Physics, which was held in Hradec Králové, September 2010. These papers bring new and interesting results in quantum mechanics and information, quantum field theory, random systems, quantum chaos, as well as in the physics of social systems. Part of the contribution is dedicated to Ari Laptev on the occasion of his 60th birthday, in recognition of his mathematical results and his service to the community. The QMath conference series has played an important role in mathematical physics for more than two decades, typically attracting many of the best results achieved in the last three-year period, and the meeting in Hradec Králové was no exception.
