This new title deals about the Taizé Community and the everyday life in this French monastery. Written by Orsi Hardi, and illustrated by Roser Argemí, the book has been published in Spanish, Catalan, English, French and German. George, a boy who visits Taizé with his parents, learns who the Brother Roger was, why he decided to found the community, and why people from all over the world, specially young people and families, travel to this place to share their experiences for some days.
The Rule of Taizé
The Rule of Taize was written by Brother Roger, its founder, during the winter of 1952-3. His intention was to express for the young men who had committed themselves to the group 'for their whole life in celibacy and to a life together in great simplicity', 'the essential that makes the common life possible'. The community has since become one of the world's most important sites of Christian pilgrimage. Over 100,000 young people from around the world travel there each year for prayer, Bible study, sharing, and communal work. Through the community's ecumenical outlook, they are encouraged to live in the spirit of kindness, simplicity and reconciliation.
Journals of Brother Roger of Taize, Volume 3
This third volume of the personal journals of Roger Schutz-Marsauche (1915–2005) covers the years from 1972 to 1976. Brother Roger was the founder and first prior of the Taizé Community in France, an ecumenical monastic community known for its music and contemplative style of worship, and for its work with young adults around the world. This volume covers the final preparations and the opening of the “Council of Youth,” an attempt to take seriously the desire for renewal of church and society of the younger generations and to orient it in a positive direction. Brother Roger also speaks of the life of the community and its many visitors, his personal spiritual journey, and the trips he took to different parts of the world, notably, at the end of 1976, to a poor neighborhood of Calcutta with an intercontinental team of young people.
