Recent advances in porous adsorbent assisted atmospheric water harvesting: a review of adsorbent materials

Water shortage is an increasing threat to humankind. Porous sorbent assisted atmospheric water harvesting (psaAWH) has emerged as an effective technological countermeasure. In this review, we summarize the types of porous adsorbents used in psaAWH and provide an overview of their states of development. The water adsorption mechanism and the processes associated with each material are analyzed, and the application prospects of the adsorbents are evaluated. The effect of the inherent properties (pore size, functional group, etc.) of the adsorbent on the water harvesting performance is also discussed. Further, we focus on the water adsorption/desorption kinetics of the adsorbents and outline va...

Sustainable Materials for Electrochemcial Capacitors

Sustainable Materials for Electrochemical Capacitors The book highlights the properties of sustainable materials for the production of commercial electrochemical capacitors. Sustainable Materials for Electrochemical Capacitors details the progress in the usage of ubiquitous environmentally sustainable materials. Due to their cost effectiveness, flexible forms, frequent accessibility, and environmentally friendly nature, electrochemical capacitors with significant surface areas of their carbon components are quite common. Many novel ways for using bio-derived components in highly efficient electrochemical capacitors are being established as a consequence of current research, and this book pro...

Porous Materials for Carbon Dioxide Capture

This multi-authored book provides a comprehensive overview of the latest developments in porous CO2 capture materials, including ionic liquid–derived carbonaceous adsorbents, porous carbons, metal-organic frameworks, porous aromatic frameworks, micro porous organic polymers. It also reviews the sorption techniques such as cyclic uptake and desorption reactions and membrane separations. In each category, the design and fabrication, the comprehensive characterization, the evaluation of CO2 sorption/separation and the sorption/degradation mechanism are highlighted. In addition, the advantages and remaining challenges as well as future perspectives for each porous material are covered. This bo...

Macrocycle-based covalent-organic-polymer as efficient oxygen electrocatalysts for zinc-air flow batteries

Macrocycle-based covalent-organic-polymer as efficient oxygen electrocatalysts for zinc-air flow batteries

Covalent organic polymers (COPs), as emerging porous materials with well-defined architectures and high hydrothermal stability, have attracted extensive attention in the field of electrocatalysis. Herein, we report a rational design method for preparing oxygen reduction reaction electrocatalysts with the assistance of a predesigned macrocyclic COP model molecular. With the predesigned nitrogen position and structural features in macrocyclic chain-like COP-based materials, the obtained COPMCT-Co-900 catalyst provided excellent oxygen reduction performance, where the half-wave potential (E1/2) reaches 0.85 V (vs. RHE), comparable to commercial Pt/C. We also extended the strategy to similar mac...

This study integrates three independent subjects—translation theory, Mandarin aspect, and Greek aspect—for the purpose of formulating a theory applicable to translating the Bible. Two passages from John 18–19 and 1 Corinthians 15 are provided as test cases.
