Guinness

A perfectly poured history of the world's greatest beer. "Joseph Conrad was wrong. The real journey into the Heart of Darkness is recounted within the pages of Bill Yenne's fine book. Guinness (the beer) is a touchstone for brewers and beer lovers the world over. Guinness (the book) gives beer enthusiasts all the information and education necessary to take beer culture out of the clutches of light lagers and back into the dark ages. Cheers!" -Sam Calagione, owner, Dogfish Head Craft Brewery and author of Brewing Up a Business, Extreme Brewing, and Beer or Wine? "Marvelous! As Bill Yenne embarks on his epic quest for the perfect pint, he takes us along on a magical tour into the depths of all things Guinness. Interweaving the tales of the world's greatest beer and the nation that spawned it, Yenne introduces us to a cast of characters worthy of a dozen novels, a brewery literally dripping with history, and-of course-the one-and-only way to properly pour a pint. You can taste the stout porter on every page." -Dan Roam, author of The Back of the Napkin: Solving Problems and Selling Ideas with Pictures

Wayland

Wayland is a classic New England village, complete with white steepled churches and picket fences. Located in central Middlesex County, it is a mirror of New England regional history: the town's first road, church, and farmhouse were all built in the mid-1600s; monuments stand to honor heroes from King Philip's War to Vietnam; and the town was home to famous writers and ministers, including the authors of "Over the River and Through the Woods" and "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear." Wayland boasts a bell cast by Paul Revere, the state's first public library, and over sixty barns remaining from its agricultural past. Situated in the broad valley of the Sudbury River, with views across the river ...

Has the 20th century been one of steady decline for British foreign policy? Can there be a distinct British foreign policy in age of regionalism and globalization? This study challenges perceptions of irrevocable decline and suggests a more balanced assessment of Britain's strengths and weaknesses. As "high politics", including security concerns diminish in importance, economic and commercial concerns increasingly seem to dictate foreign policy. On the assumption that what the population seeks is a combination of physical security, prosperity and what could be termed "moral self-approbation", this study suggests ways in which Britain could capitalize on its influence and assets to promote its interests. A framework is provided for thinking about British foreign policy at a time when globalization, multinational companies, NGOs, the European Union and other factors increasingly constrain the freedom of government and the traditional role of the foreign office.

Inside-out Marketing

This practical guide provides an understanding of internal marketing and the seven components of an internal marketing strategy (IMS). Put simply, internal marketing is largely about the things people do within an organization that contribute to the achievement of the organization's overall purpose and success. By offering a balance of both theory and practice, Michael Dunmore shows the reader how to develop an IMS that integrates the whole organization and produces teams that can work together towards common goals and outcomes. In this way he shows how a strong internal marketing strategy can be critical to achieving and sustaining competitive advantage, as well as being a major driver of change and enhanced performance. Topics covered include: vision, mission and values of an organization; corporate strategy; processes and service standards; knowledge management; internal communication; HR strategy; and integrating internal and external marketing.
