In Remote and Hybrid Work: What Everyone Needs to Know(R), long-time remote work scholar and consultant Barbara Z. Larson provides an accessible and critical resource for understanding the remote and virtual workplace, and how to lead in this new work environment. Remote and hybrid work have become defining features of the twenty-first century workplace, and affect almost all of us, including those who work daily in the office. As many people discover the benefits and challenges of working from home, co-workers are contending with emptier offices and virtual teams, managers are learning how to lead from a distance, and businesses and governments are working through the policy implications of...
Fully updated and containing chapters on the new EU member states and the attempt to form a common EU migration policy, this new edition of European Immigration: A Sourcebook provides a comprehensive overview of the trends and developments in migration in all EU countries. With chapters following a common structure to facilitate direct international comparisons, it not only examines the internal affairs of each member state, but also explores both migratory trends within the EU itself and the implications for European immigration of wider global events, including the Arab Spring and the world financial crisis.
Originally printed in German in 1993, this updated and revised version has been translated into English. Lots of new photos and updated data were added to the text as Gerlach traces the beginnings of the Amish movement in Switzerland, their development and contribution to agriculture in Europe, and their spread throughout Europe as well as their eventual decline. A short portion covers the Amish in North America. This is the most comprehensive book on the Amish in Europe. (401pp. color illus. index. Masthof Press, 2013.)

This second edition presents a completely revised overview of research on intonational phonology since the 1970s, including new material on research developments since the mid 1990s. It contains a new section discussing the research on the alignment of pitch features that has developed since the first edition was published, a substantially rewritten section on ToBI transcription that takes account of the application of ToBI principles to other languages, and new sections on the phonetic research on accent and focus. The substantive chapters on the analysis and transcription of pitch contours, pitch range, sentence stress and prosodic structure have been reorganised and updated. In addition, there is an associated website with sound files of the example sentences discussed in the book. This well-known study will continue to appeal to researchers and graduate students who work on any aspect of intonation.
