For many of us DH Lawrence was a schoolboy hero. Who can forget sniggering in class at the mention of 'Women In Love' or 'Lady Chatterley's Lover'? Lawrence was a talented if nomadic writer whose novels were passionately received, suppressed at times and generally at odds with Establishment values. This of course did not deter him. At his death in 1930 at the young age of 44 he was more often thought of as a pornographer but in the ensuing years he has come to be more rightly regarded as one of the most imaginative writers these shores have produced. As well as his novels he was also a masterful poet (he wrote over 800 of them), a travel writer as well as an author of many classic short stories. Here we publish his travel writings 'Twilight in Italy'. Once again Lawrence shows his hand as a brilliant writer. Delving into landscapes and peeling them back to reveal the inner heart.

Sons and Lovers

Now printed in full for the first time, Sons and Lovers is D. H. Lawrence's most widely read novel and one of the great works of twentieth-century literature. In 1913, at the time of its first publication, Lawrence reluctantly agreed to the removal of no fewer than eighty passages which until now have never been restored. This edition presents the novel in the form that Lawrence himself wanted - about one tenth longer than the incomplete and expurgated version that has hitherto been available. The introduction of this edition relates much new information about Lawrence's two-year struggle to write his autobiographical masterpiece. The notes document many previously unknown sources, and indicate Lawrence's preoccupation with key contemporary issues such as women's rights, and the impact of evolutionary theory on religion and ethics. Published in two volumes.

Love Poems and Others

Love Poems and Others by D.H Lawrence features thirty-two poems of various lengths. With themes of love, marriage, gender, sexuality and emotional health, Lawrence's work is both relatable and revolutionary. Separated into three sections, Love Poems and Others addresses an eclectic variety of human struggles. The first section, Love Poems explores how gender changes the expectations of love and sex. Through the portrayal of the search for love, this section examines the almost violent human need for connection, pondering how society both enables and prevents this instinctual need. The next section, Dialect reproduces and preserves the language and concerns of the people in Nottinghamshire, E...
