This volume publishes the 2004 Harlaxton Conference, comprising 25 papers on late medieval London. A huge range of topics is covered - many reflect London's pre-eminence as a centre of trade, with production and consumption, guilds and their social, religious and educational roles, and customs and their evasion all featuring. Other essays look at the capital as a centre of patronage, artistic and literary, whilst a final section looks at literacy.
Explore a lavishly illustrated celebration of this important figure in Victorian landscape garden design.
