Intelligence and Security Informatics
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Pacific Asia Workshop on Intelligence and Security Informatics, PAISI 2015, held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in May 2015 in conjunction with PAKDD 2015, the 19th Pacific-Asia Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining. The 8 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. Topics of the workshop are information sharing and big data analytics, infrastructure protection and emergency responses, cybercrime and terrorism informatics and analytics, as well as enterprise risk management, IS security and social media analytics. The papers present a significant view on regional data sets and case studies, including online social media and multimedia, fraud deception and text mining.
Knowledge-Driven Multimedia Information Extraction and Ontology Evolution
This book presents the state of the art in the areas of ontology evolution and knowledge-driven multimedia information extraction, placing an emphasis on how the two can be combined to bridge the semantic gap. This was also the goal of the EC-sponsored BOEMIE (Bootstrapping Ontology Evolution with Multimedia Information Extraction) project, to which the authors of this book have all contributed. The book addresses researchers and practitioners in the field of computer science and more specifically in knowledge representation and management, ontology evolution, and information extraction from multimedia data. It may also constitute an excellent guide to students attending courses within a computer science study program, addressing information processing and extraction from any type of media (text, images, and video). Among other things, the book gives concrete examples of how several of the methods discussed can be applied to athletics (track and field) events.
MultiMedia Modeling
The two-volume set LNCS 10132 and 10133 constitutes the thoroughly refereed proceedings of the 23rd International Conference on Multimedia Modeling, MMM 2017, held in Reykjavik, Iceland, in January 2017. Of the 149 full papers submitted, 36 were selected for oral presentation and 33 for poster presentation; of the 34 special session papers submitted, 24 were selected for oral presentation and 2 for poster presentation; in addition, 5 demonstrations were accepted from 8 submissions, and all 7 submissions to VBS 2017. All papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 198 submissions. MMM is a leading international conference for researchers and industry practitioners for sharing new ideas, original research results and practical development experiences from all MMM related areas, broadly falling into three categories: multimedia content analysis; multimedia signal processing and communications; and multimedia applications and services.
