Lacustrine Sandstone Reservoirs and Hydrocarbon Systems
Many publications on lacustrine systems concentrate on reconstructing paleo-environments, deciphering paleoclimate or estimating hydrocarbon source potential. This is the first memoir to give attention to describing the occurrence, distribution and character of sandstones in various lake settings. The memoir is divided into four sections beginning with a global overview, and followed by two sections covering lacustrine systems in compressional and extensional regimes, and concludes with a series of papers on modern lake regimes.

Understanding basin-fill evolution and the origin of stratal architectures has traditionally been based on studies of outcrops, well and seismic data, studies of and inferences on qualitative geological processes, and to a lesser extent based on quantitative observations of modern and ancient sedimentary environments. The Sixteenth Orion Symposium celebrated seventy years of Dead Sea Scrolls research under the theme, “Clear a path in the wilderness!” (Isaiah 40:3). Papers use the wilderness rubric to address the self-identification of the Qumran group; dimensions of religious experience reflected in the Dead Sea writings; biblical interpretation as shaper and conveyor of that experience; the significance of the Qumran texts for critical biblical scholarship; points of contact with the early Jesus movement; and new developments in understanding the archaeology of the Qumran caves. The volume both honors past insights and charts new paths for the future of Qumran studies.
