We Were a Handful
The acclaimed novel We Were a Handful is the humorous story of five small-town boys. In 1943 during one of the lowest points of his life – as he awaited his deportation to Theresienstadt – Karel Poláček recalled his youth, inviting readers to see the world through the eyes of a child. Terra sigillata z Čech v kontextu evropského barbarika
Tato monografie pojednává o archeologických nálezech keramiky římské provenience typu terra sigillata z oblasti Čech (1.–5. stol. n.l.). Základ tvoří podrobný katalog. V analytické části je shromážděná keramika hodnocena dle jednotlivých dílenských okruhů, tvarů a výzdoby. Navazující kapitoly pojednávají o typech českých lokalit (germánská sídliště versus pohřebiště; četnost na lokalitách a jejich charakteristika; datace a druhy sídlištních objektů), dále směrech, způsobech a chronologii přísunu sigillaty z římských provincií do germánských Čech. Pozornost je také věnována nálezům pozdní produkce (4.–5. stol. n.l.), horizontu markomanských válek, imitacím či vztahu k jiným druhům římských předmětů v Čechách. Sledované aspekty jsou široce porovnávány s dalšími oblastmi neřímské Evropy, ale i situací v přilehlých provinciích. Text doprovází mapy a obrazové, kresebné i fotografické přílohy.
