My Name is Zoe and I have written this book as a guide to new Youth Workers. When I began work in this sector I had formal qualifications; but had no idea what was expected of me in the job by the youth. It is a really rewarding career, which can be very tough at times and you can be pushed to the limit. However the good times, however small far outweigh the not so good times. Have a read of this book you will be very surprised at the contents.
Care, Duck and Weave is a book that was written with the aim of assisting people who are entering into a new career as a youth worker. Author Zoe Harvey possesses a lifetime of experience in this field, and through this book presents a vivid account of the enormous joys as well as the trials and tribulations of this rewarding career. All I can say to those that read this book, written in dedication to the youth I am now caring for, is to focus on helping these children strive towards a healthy, fulfilled, happy and independent life. Work together as a team and treasure the precious moments. You will have some tough times, but we all know you need to go through the tough to get to the good. Life wasn't meant to be easy. - Zoe Harvey Zoe Harvey grew up in Melbourne but has lived in Queensland for the past 30 years where she raised two children. She continues to work as a youth worker and enjoys writing in her spare time. Care, Duck and Weave is her first book and it was inspired by the love she has for her work and the need so many children have for nurturing, stability, caring and assistance.
