For racialized long-time residents, it is Heimat, a space of belonging in the context of exclusion. As social mix policy threatens that belonging, residents explore their hopes and their fears for the future of an urban space where gentrification looms.
The Reception of East Slavic Literatures in the West and the East
This volume, edited by scholars from diverse backgrounds, stems from the original convergence of various geo-cultural viewpoints on the reception of East Slavic cultures and literatures (Russian, Ukrainian, Belarussian, Soviet): European viewpoints are juxtaposed with those of the Japanese, Chinese, Israeli areas. The volume offers a broad look at the history of the perception of these literatures in Europe, Italy, and East Asia (with special attention to their reception in Japan and China). Contacts, influences, meditations, and difficulties in the perception of literary and cultural phenomena are the subject of original comparative analyses. The vitality with which Slavic-Eastern literatures have found echoes in very distant environments, but also the evolution of the self-perception of Ukrainian literature over time, are among the topics.

The Crisis of Bourgeois Natural Science
The third volume of the book series, The Crisis of Bourgeois Ideology, and the Doctrine of the Mode of Thinking, deals with the crisis of bourgeois natural science. Natural scientists generally are held in high esteem in bourgeois society because they are seemingly apolitical, unimpeachable, and committed solely to social progress. With the advance of positivism and pragmatism, however, the natural sciences lost much of their scientificity and have gotten into a crisis. Transnational Repression in the Age of Globalisation

Deniz Yücel rekonstruiert die Geschichte der Türkei, deren innerer Frieden stets an ziemlich heißen Konfliktlinien mühsam und oft wenig erfolgreich verteidigt werden musste. In seinem Essay zeichnet er die Entstehung der AKP und mit ihr den Aufstieg des Recep Tayyip Erdogan nach: Von den anfänglichen politischen wie gesellschaftlichen Reformen mit dem Ziel des EU-Beitritts - das letzte große Ziel, auf das sich fast die gesamte türkische Gesellschaft verständigen konnte - bis hin zum drastischen innen- wie außenpolitischen Wandel der letzten Jahre, der schließlich in der Spaltung der Gesellschaft und in dem nun seit mehrere Monate herrschenden Ausnahmezustand mündete. Sein Essay erschien zusammen mit weiteren Beiträgern in der Kulturzeitschrift Kursbuch 188 "Kalter Frieden".
