Scarcity of water is omnipresent. The conditions are getting worst. Urban areas are facing severe water problem. Natural recharging of the aquifers has become impossible because of unplanned construction, cemented roads, pavements etc. and the only solution is roof water harvesting. Here some very simple but effective methods of roof water harvesting are given which can be deployed to enhance the water level and groundwater storage. They are not expensive but need periodic maintenance with some precautions. To some extent, these methods can be put to use in rural areas also.
