New Trends in Allergy
From the first to the third of August, 1980, an international sym posium entitled "New Trends in Allergy" was held in Munich, sponsored by the Ludwig-Maximilian University, Munich, in cooperation with the German Society for Allergy and Immunity Research and the European Society for Dermatological Research. The symposium pursued two main goals: to bring allergy oriented colleagues from various specialties such as dermatology, otorhinolaryngology, pediatrics, internal medicine, immunology, and pulmonology together for interdisciplinary contacts and dis cussions; and to attract internationally known experts in an effort to disseminate information on new and fundamental develop ments in allergology. The fact that English has become the lingua franca at congresses for the exchange of ideas in medical specialties led to the decision to hold the symposium in English. In spite of the mild handicap this posed for some participants, it was also a major factor in the symposium's success. This book contains the papers delivered by the invited speakers together with the poster presentations. They cover both basic ex perimental research as well as clinical problems in allergology.

This book describes how genomics has revolutionized our understanding of agriculturally important plant-associated fungi and oomycetes. It illustrates some fundamental discoveries about these eukaryotic microbes with regard to the overall structure of their genomes, their lifestyles and the molecular mechanisms that form the basis of their interactions with plants. Genomics has provided new insights into fungal lifestyles and led to practical advances in plant breeding and crop protection, such as predictions about the spread and evolution of new pathogens. This volume focuses on fungi and oomycetes that are typical dicot plant pathogens and includes: Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, Botrytis cinerea, Alternaria sp.,Verticillium alfalfae and Verticillium dahliae, Fusarium oxysporum, Phytophthora capsici, Phytophthora sojae, Phytophthora ramorum, Phytophthora infestans, Hyaloperonospora arabidopsidis.

a+u's December issue features the Swiss architecture firm Edelaar Mosayebi Inderbitzin Architekt*innen (EMI), founded in 2005 by architects Ron Edelaar, Elli Mosayebi, and Christian Inderbitzin. Working primarily in Switzerland, their works include exhibitions, refurbishments, building projects, and urban planning. However, housing is the firm's dominant architectural preoccupation, as they examine and reinterpret the small-scale components that contribute to human agency and delight within a dwelling. As EMI says, they have "developed a veritable obsession with doors." EMI are storytellers, using subtle gestures - a turn of a wall, the absence of a lintel - to expand upon the purely functional perception of everyday architectural elements. Garden
"The garden, a recurring motif in the work of Zurich-based Edelaar Mosayebi Inderbitzin Architects, features prominently in many of their architectural projects as idea, vision, or built space. In their exhibition Garten at Architektur Galerie Berlin in fall 2016, the architects foregrounded that topos and, in collaboration with Swiss landscape designer Daniel Ganz, transformed the gallery space into a living garden.
