The Arctic and its surrounding marginal seas are considered some of the most sensitive elements of the global environment, which may respond rapidly to climate change. However, due to various reasons, our knowledge of the processes which drive the Arctic system today and in the past is still relatively sparse. Based on a multidisciplinary approach, German and Russian scientists describe in this book the natural paleorecords and modern data which were collected over the past 6 years. These marine and terrestrial datasets provide important new insights into the causes, impacts, and feedback mechanisms of this extreme Arctic environment.
The volume collects papers from talks given at QMath11 ? Mathematical Results in Quantum Physics, which was held in Hradec Kr lov, September 2010. These papers bring new and interesting results in quantum mechanics and information, quantum field theory, random systems, quantum chaos, as well as in the physics of social systems. Part of the contribution is dedicated to Ari Laptev on the occasion of his 60th birthday, in recognition of his mathematical results and his service to the community. The QMath conference series has played an important role in mathematical physics for more than two decades, typically attracting many of the best results achieved in the last three-year period, and the meeting in Hradec Kr lov was no exception.
This volume contains the proceedings of the OTAMP 2008 (Operator Theory, Analysis and Mathematical Physics) conference held at the Mathematical Research and Conference Center in Bedlewo near Poznan. It is composed of original research articles describing important results presented at the conference, some with extended review sections, as well as presentations by young researchers. Special sessions were devoted to random and quasi-periodic differential operators, orthogonal polynomials, Jacobi and CMV matrices, and quantum graphs. The present monograph is a detailed taxonomical description of the diatom flora of the Laptev Sea (Arctic Ocean). The Laptev Sea is one of the most important epicontinental seas of the Arctic, marked by large freshwater inputs. Approximately 60% of the diatoms found in the Laptev Sea are freshwater species which originally occur in lakes and rivers of the Siberian hinterland. These diatoms are transported into the Laptev Sea by five large streams.

The conference Operator Theory, Analysis and Mathematical Physics – OTAMP is a regular biennial event devoted to mathematical problems on the border between analysis and mathematical physics. The current volume presents articles written by participants, mostly invited speakers, and is devoted to problems at the forefront of modern mathematical physics such as spectral properties of CMV matrices and inverse problems for the non-classical Schrödinger equation. Other contributions deal with equations from mathematical physics and study their properties using methods of spectral analysis.
