Pieter Saenredam, The Utrecht Work
Pieter Saenredam (1597–1665) was one of the magical painters of 17th-century Holland, a time known as the Golden Age of Dutch Art. He spent his career immortalizing the churches of Holland in drawings and paintings. Working through a series of perspective drawings to the finished painting, he made innumerable fine adjustments to architectural details to create what may be justly called spaces of wondrous perfection of proportion and luminosity. Pieter Saenredam, The Utrecht Work is published to coincide with an exhibition of Saenredam’s drawings and paintings, originally held at the Centraal Museum, Utrecht, and on view from April 16 through July 7, 2002 at the Getty Museum. This elegant volume brings together more than sixty drawings and paintings depicting the beautiful and historically venerable churches of the Dutch city of Utrecht.
Unity and Discontinuity
This study focuses on change and continuity within the architecture of the Southern and Northern Low Countries from 1530 to 1700. Instead of looking at both regions separately and stressing the stylistic differences between the classicist North and the baroque South, the book establishes a new, common history of architecture for both parts of the Low Countries during the 17th century. Their reception of Antiquity in the guise of the Italian Renaissance, first introduced in Court circles in the early 16th century, constituted the common heritage on which they built after the political separation. The book also reassesses the position of Netherlandish architecture in the international debate on the Renaissance north of the Alps. Krista De Jonge is professor of architectural history at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. She has published extensively on early modern Netherlandish architecture, including Burgundian and Habsburg court residences and the Renaissance problematic. Konrad A. Ottenheym is professor for architectural history at Utrecht University. His research is focussed on Dutch early modern architecture and its international connections.

Transactions from the BAA conference in 1993 which was held in Utrecht to celebrate the societies 150th anniversary. These papers present the latest research on the cities monuments from the arrival of Willibrord and Boniface and the establishment of the Bishopric. Twenty-seven papers, all in English cover the early history of the city, a comparison with England at the time and essays on St. Martin's, Wilibrord's cathedral, and the cross of churches. Other essays look at 12th century sculptural iconography, manuscript production, fonts, secular architecture, the Gothic cathedral and its history up to the reformation.

Dies gilt an erster Stelle für naturale Ressourcen wie Wasser, Bodenschätze und Nahrungsmittel, aber auch für immaterielle Ressourcen wie Informationen und funktionierende soziale Netzwerke. Sie behandeln Themen wie zum Beispiel die Lebensmittelversorgung im antiken Griechenland, den Umgang mit dem Wald in den österreichischen Alpenländern des 19. Jahrhunderts, die Bibliothek als Wissensspeicher sowie die Landschaft der Gegenwart als Ressource für das Verständnis der Vergangenheit. Insgesamt zeigen die im Anschluss an die 2019 stattgefundene Abschlusstagung des Göttinger Forschungsprojekts „Nachhaltigkeit als Argument“ entstandenen Beiträge die Vielfältigkeit der Herangehensweisen und die Potentiale einer Beschäftigung mit Ressourcen in historischer Perspektive auf.
