Catalogue of the old books on numismatics from the collection of the National Museum Kraków, Poland]00The Numismatic Room of the National Museum Kraków, Poland, was established in 1883.0Currently, the Room boasts a collection of approximately 109,000 objects. It comprises items such as antique coins (c. 9000 objects), Polish and foreign coins (c. 60000), medals (c. 7000), religious medallions (2646), banknotes (c. 19000), varia (c. 6200) and deposits (c. 4400).0The catalogue describes 322 bibliographic items published in the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries in various European countries. The notes on individual items give detailed information about graphical (woodcut and copperplate) presentations of coins and medals. The indexes make it easier to search for descriptions of coins minted by various European rulers and of the Middle and Far East countries. 0The catalogue is accompanied by a DVD with digitized illustrations from selected catalogue items.
Giammaria Mosca Called Padovano
Author of statues in the major churches of Padua and Venice, Giammaria Mosca was among the leading sculptors in northern Italy during the second and third decades of the sixteenth century. In 1529 Mosca was summoned by the King of Poland to erect his tomb in Cracow. From 1533 until the artist's death in 1574, documents at regular intervals record important commissions to Mosca throughout Poland from the Polish royal family, as well as from prominent members of the nobility and ecclesiastical hierarchy. Santi Gucci Fiorentino, Artist and Entrepreneur in Early Modern Poland
The original research in this book analyzes the artistic activity of Santi Gucci (1533– c.1600), a Florentine sculptor active in Poland in the second half of the sixteenth century, and his workshop. Chapters examine the organization of the artistic workshop (sculpting and masonry) and the model of the artist’s functioning as an entrepreneur in Renaissance Poland, using Santi Gucci’s activity as an example. Gucci shaped the image of Polish sculpture in the sixteenth century for more than 50 years, even though his work has not yet been fully examined. The author sets Gucci’s emigration within the context of the cultural exchanges between Italy and Poland that contributed to the development of the Polish Renaissance. The book will be of interest to scholars working in art history, Renaissance studies, architectural history and economic history.
