The Human Factor
A study of demography in the Iberian Peninsula (4th century BC to the end of the Roman period), focusing on its largest province, Hispania Citerior/Tarraconensis. A multidisciplinary approach is employed, compiling archaeological, epigraphic, architectonic, osteological, and genetic data, to paint a nuanced picture of the ancient Mediterranean.
Palaeohispanic Languages and Epigraphies
In addition to Phoenician, Greek, and Latin, at least four writing systems were used between the fifth century BCE and the first century CE to write the indigenous languages of the Iberian peninsula (the so-called Palaeohispanic languages): Tartessian, Iberian, Celtiberian, and Lusitanian. In total over three thousand inscriptions are preserved in what is certainly the largest corpus of epigraphic expression in the western Mediterranean world, with the exception of the Italian peninsula. Understanding Integration in the Roman World
Integration is a buzzword in the 21st century. However, academics still do not agree on its meaning and, above all, on its consequences. This book offers numerous examples showing that the inhabitants of the Roman Mediterranean were “integrated”, i.e. were aware of the existence of a common framework of coexistence, without this necessarily resulting in a process of cultural convergence. For instance, the Spanish poet Martial explicitly refused to be considered the brother of the Greek Charmenion (10.65): paradoxically, while reaffirming their differences, his satirical epigram confirms the existence of a common frame of reference that encompassed them both. Understanding integration in the Roman world requires paying attention to the complex and varied responses to diversity in Roman times.

Connected Histories of the Roman Civil Wars (88–30 BCE)
This book offers a distinctive take on the civil wars that unfolded in the Late Roman Republic. It frames their discussion against the backdrop of the Mediterranean contexts in which they were fought, and sets out to bring to the centre of the debate the significance of provincial agency on a traumatic and complex process, which cannot be understood through an exclusive focus on Roman and Italian developments. The study of the late Republican civil wars can be productively read as an exercise of ‘connected history’, in which the fundamental interdependence of the Mediterranean world comes to the fore through a set of case studies that await to be understood through a properly integrative approach. Our project brings together an international and diverse lineup of scholars, who engage with a wide range of literary, documentary, and archaeological material, and make a collective contribution to the reframing of a problem that requires a collaborative and interdisciplinary outlook, and can yield invaluable insights to the understanding of the Roman imperial project.

En aquest treball s'estudien les dades referents al santuari ibèric de la Cova de les Encantades del Montcabrer, que presenta un gran volum de material arqueològic. Cronològicament cal situar-lo entre els segles IV aC i II dC, com a lloc on es practicaven sobretot rituals d'ofrena i de comensalitat. Fins alguna resta permet afirmar que el lloc encara fou visitat esporàdicament amb finalitats cúltiques en la tardoantiguitat. L'anàlisi inclou l'estudi del material preibèric, datable majoritàriament en l’edat del bronze, que a priori no tindria a veure amb cap cerimonial religiós.
