Mélangeant personnages réels et fictifs,il nous dresse un tableau très vivant du XIXe siècle entraîné dans de grandes révolutions techniques et morales, dont la fin de l’esclavage. On suit pas à pas son héros dans ses aventures extraordinaires à la poursuite de ce trésor bien réel, qu’encore aujourd’hui certains recherchent.... Agrémenté de cartes et de documents d’époque, un roman d’aventures comme on n’en fait plus, servi par l’écriture toujours aussi éblouissante d’Alex Cousseau.
