This book consists of invited survey articles and research papers in the scientific areas of the “International Workshop on Operator Algebras, Operator Theory and Applications,” which was held in Lisbon in July 2016. Reflecting recent developments in the field of algebras of operators, operator theory and matrix theory, it particularly focuses on groupoid algebras and Fredholm conditions, algebras of approximation sequences, C* algebras of convolution type operators, index theorems, spectrum and numerical range of operators, extreme supercharacters of infinite groups, quantum dynamics and operator algebras, and inverse eigenvalue problems. Establishing bridges between the three related areas of operator algebras, operator theory, and matrix theory, the book is aimed at researchers and graduate students who use results from these areas.

Operator Theory, Pseudo-Differential Equations, and Mathematical Physics
This volume is a collection of papers devoted to the 70th birthday of Professor Vladimir Rabinovich. The opening article (by Stefan Samko) includes a short biography of Vladimir Rabinovich, along with some personal recollections and bibliography of his work. It is followed by twenty research and survey papers in various branches of analysis (pseudodifferential operators and partial differential equations, Toeplitz, Hankel, and convolution type operators, variable Lebesgue spaces, etc.) close to Professor Rabinovich's research interests. Many of them are written by participants of the International workshop “Analysis, Operator Theory, and Mathematical Physics” (Ixtapa, Mexico, January 23–27, 2012) having a long history of scientific collaboration with Vladimir Rabinovich, and are partially based on the talks presented there.The volume will be of great interest to researchers and graduate students in differential equations, operator theory, functional and harmonic analysis, and mathematical physics.
Operator Theoretical Methods and Applications to Mathematical Physics
This volume is devoted to the life and work of the applied mathematician Professor Erhard Meister (1930-2001). He was a member of the editorial boards of this book series Operator The ory: Advances and Applications as well as of the journal Integral Equations and Operator Theory, both published by Birkhauser (now part of Springer-Verlag). Moreover he played a decisive role in the foundation of these two series by helping to establish contacts between Birkhauser and the founder and present chief editor of this book series after his emigration from Moldavia in 1974. The volume is divided into two parts. Part A contains reminiscences about the life of E. Meister including a short biography and an exposition of his professional work. Part B displays the wide range of his scientific interests through eighteen original papers contributed by authors with close scientific and personal relations to E. Meister. We hope that a great part of the numerous features of his life and work can be re-discovered from this book.

Function Spaces
This book consists of contributions by the participants of the Fifth Conference on Function Spaces, held at Southern Illinois University in May of 2006. The papers cover a broad range of topics, including spaces and algebras of analytic functions of one and of many variables (and operators on such spaces), $L{p $-spaces, spaces of Banach-valued functions, isometries of function spaces, geometry of Banach spaces, and other related subjects. The goal of the conference was to bring together mathematicians interested in various problems related to function spaces and to facilitate the exchange of ideas between people working on similar problems. Hence, the majority of papers in this book are accessible to non-experts. Some articles contain expositions of known results and discuss open problems, others contain new results.
