My wife and I have read through the Daily Devotions for the entire year. At one point she stopped me and said that every husband and father should receive a copy of these devotions and read them aloud to his wife and children. I agree. Above all, Dr. Percival is a Pastor and has a Pastor’s heart and insight. With these devotions, he leads us through the entire range of a person’s relation with our Triune God. Skilfully, he guides us through the pertinent Psalms, instructive Biblical passage, and a brief statement on how to speak with God. His choice of poems is very brief and very uplifting. He leads us finally in a sentence or two on how we ought to pray. This book of devotions should have wide circulation well beyond the Anglican Communion to the church universal. It has already begun with me. Rev. Dr Nicholas J. Tavani, B.D., Ph.D., CFLE Altadena, California 2005
The Reverend Canon Alson B H Percival is a man deeply engulfed in devotional life. When he prays the atmosphere is transformed with the Divine presence and those present become drawn into the apostles (Peter, James and John) transfiguration experience. I believe such occasions are due to the fact that he is in spiritual communion with his God on a daily basis. Canon Percival prides himself with the fact that he leads his family, his staff and some parishioners in daily devotions. For the past twenty eight (28) years of his ministry he has conducted all-night Prayer Meetings, Prayer and Fast Sessions, and Prayer and Bible Studies with much spiritual success. This book "My Time with God" find ...

Robinson, the man hailed by Cornel West as "the greatest pro-Africa freedom fighter of his generation in America" makes a striking departure, figuratively and literally: He leaves America for a life in the Caribbean.
On March 20, 1822, the Missouri Republican published a notice addressed “to enterprising young men” in the St. Louis area. “The subscriber,” it said “wishes to engage one hundred young men to ascend the Missouri River to its source, there to be employed for one, two, or three years. For particulars enquire of Major Andrew Henry… or of the subscriber near St. Louise.” The “subscriber” was General William H. Ashley, and among the “enterprising young men” who embarked with Major Henry less than a month later was eighteen-year-old James Bridger, former blacksmith’s apprentice. So began the Ashley-Henry fur empire and the long, colorful career of Jim Bridger. In the years ...
