Os textos que compõem esta coletânea foram apresentados durante a II Jornada Discente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciência Política, organizado por discentes da Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO) entre os dias 9 e 11 de outubro de 2019. O tema do evento, Estado, Democracia e Sociedade: desafios contemporâneos, tornou-se o título desta publicação que visa divulgar os trabalhos científicos de pesquisadores e pesquisadoras e promover um debate qualificado acerca da complexa interação entre a sociedade civil e as instituições políticas e estatais na contemporaneidade. Assim, foram selecionados doze artigos que refletem alguns dos principais tópicos abordados durante o seminário, divididos em três seções: Relações Internacionais, Brasil sob Perspectiva e Direitos Humanos. Como chegamos ao contexto atual?
A Comissão Organizadora da I Jornada Discente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciência Política da Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (PPGCP-UNIRIO) tem o prazer de apresentar a coletânea “Como Chegamos ao Contexto Atual? – Dilemas e Perspectivas sobre Ciência Política e Relações Internacionais”, composto por trabalhos em destaque que foram apresentados durante o evento. Dividido em 4 seções, o livro tem o intuito de discutir o passado, o presente e o futuro dos estudos de Ciência Política e Relações Internacionais, em busca de um debate democrático e inclusivo sobre os desafios que permeam os campos de conhecimento para a produção de um saber mais representativo. Severe Asthma
Severe asthma is a form of asthma that responds poorly to currently available medication, and its patients represent those with greatest unmet needs. In the last 10 years, substantial progress has been made in terms of understanding some of the mechanisms that drive severe asthma; there have also been concomitant advances in the recognition of specific molecular phenotypes. This ERS Monograph covers all aspects of severe asthma – epidemiology, diagnosis, mechanisms, treatment and management – but has a particular focus on recent understanding of mechanistic heterogeneity based on an analytic approach using various ‘omics platforms applied to clinically well-defined asthma cohorts. How these advances have led to improved management targets is also emphasised. This book brings together the clinical and scientific expertise of those from around the world who are collaborating to solve the problem of severe asthma.

Recent Development of Electrospinning for Drug Delivery
Several promising techniques have been developed to overcome the poor solubility and/or membrane permeability properties of new drug candidates, including different fiber formation methods. Electrospinning is one of the most commonly used spinning techniques for fiber formation, induced by the high voltage applied to the drug-loaded solution. With modifying the characteristics of the solution and the spinning parameters, the functionality-related properties of the formulated fibers can be finely tuned. The Mother-Infant Nexus in Anthropology
Over the past 20 years there has been increased research traction in the anthropology of childhood. However, infancy, the pregnant body and motherhood continue to be marginalised. This book will focus on the mother-infant relationship and the variable constructions of this dyad across cultures, including conceptualisations of the pregnant body, the beginnings of life, and implications for health. This is particularly topical because there is a burgeoning awareness within anthropology regarding the centrality of mother-infant interactions for understanding the evolution of our species, infant and maternal health and care strategies, epigenetic change, and biological and social development. This book will bring together cultural and biological anthropologists and archaeologists to examine the infant-maternal interface in past societies. It will showcase innovative theoretical and methodological approaches towards understanding societal constructions of foetal, infant and maternal bodies. It will emphasise their interconnectivity and will explore the broader significance of the mother/infant nexus for overall population well-being.
