The American Lutheran Church (TALC) was represented on this committee by the executive directors of the Division of World Missions (DWM) and the Division of Home Missions.
Chairman of the Japan Mission, American Lutheran Church
The correspondence, reports and other material in this series comprise the communication between the various Evangelical Lutheran Church and American Lutheran Church missionaries in Japan with the chairman of the mission between 1951 and 1976. Also included is the correspondence between the chairman and the Division of World Missions, the Japan Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Literature Society, and the Tokai Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Northern Evangelical Lutheran Church (NELC)/Santal Mission Files
This series comprises material pertaining to Northern India mission work and was retained or generated by the Secretary for South Pacific, South Asia, and Madagascar for the Division for World Mission and Inter-Church Cooperation (DWMIC) of The American Lutheran Church (TALC). The material is from 1955-1984 with the majority dating from 1967-1984. Types of records include meeting agenda and minutes, handwritten and typewritten business correspondence, financial statements and budgets, and several folders of general subject matter.
Correspondence and Reports
This series comprises several records related to The American Lutheran Church's (TALC) exploration of mission work in Indonesia. They were retained by the Division for World Mission and Inter-Church Cooperation's (DWMIC) Secretary for East Asia office. There are so few records because TALC did not have established mission work in Indonesia. These records are from 1979-1986 and are primarily typewritten business correspondence and printed reports. The correspondence is valuable in that it is a record of TALC's efforts to establish a mission presence, albeit a small one, in Indonesia. It pertains to attempts to secure entry visas to Indonesia for two TALC missionaries who were to assist in teaching English to the Balinese. The other records relate primarily to a request by the Council of Churches in Indonesia to secure assistance for its electronic communications capabilities.

This series comprises records retained by the Area Secretary for Latin America and the Middle East for The American Lutheran Church's (TALC) Division for World Mission and Inter-Church Cooperation (DWMIC). They are from 1957-1988 with the bulk of records dating from 1972-1986. These records were generated throughout the course of business conducted by the Office for Latin America and the Middle East as it related to mission work carried out by TALC in those regions. The correspondence, reports and other material in this series comprise the communication between the Japan mission and the Board of World Mission's Secretary for East Asia to 1987. The administrative records of Japan organizations with which the mission cooperated are also included such as The American School in Japan. Records of the International Christian University and the Japan Evangelical Lutheran Church are also included.
