Currently, there is a growing number of works in the area of economic risk analysis and financial statements of companies that do not provide value to the end user, and where decisions are made with unsatisfactory or unusable reports. The objective of this study is to describe how the quality of the work done by accounting students improves by identifying their emotions during the development of a simulated model of financial analysis through neurotechnology. The methodology consisted of the application of a mixed design. This design included a qualitative phase first, where in-depth interviews were conducted. Then, it also had an experimental phase, where an initiative based on the theory o...

The volcanic and oceanic nature of the Canary Islands, its rich plant biodiversity and high rate of endemism, as well as the relict character of some of its plant communities make it a territory of great biological interest. The main geographic, climatic, bioclimatic, biogeographic and floristic features of the Islands are shown and related to the distributional pattern of potential communities along an altitudinal gradient. Current vegetation units and their ecology are described and illustrated with numerous pictures. Potential vegetation units are summarized and comprehensive maps of the potential natural vegetation for each island are given. Human impact on the natural landscape, the occurrence of invasive plants, and the probable impact of climate change on the flora and vegetation are discussed. The conservation status of flora and vegetation are assessed. Four appendixes include a syntaxonomical scheme, a brief history of botanical studies and explorations in the Islands, ethnobotanical notes, and a list of selected literature.

Advances on Genomics and Genetics of Horticultural Crops and their Contribution to Breeding Efforts, volume II

Horticultural crops are an excellent source of vitamins, antioxidants, and fibers that play an important role in human health. The discovery of modern genomic tools, the continuous generation of genomic data, and the application of comparative and functional genomics are high importance innovations with numerous applications in crop breeding. The utilization of all these new techniques in combination with the analysis of genomic data using bioinformatics tools, contribute to a better understanding of the function of various agronomic traits of interest as well as horticultural crops breeding. Over the last few years, novel genome editing tools such as the CRISPR-Cas9, have been developed and revolutionized molecular technologies due to their simplicity, high efficiency, and specificity.

Myelin-Mediated Inhibition of Axonal Regeneration: Past, Present, and Future

Myelin-Mediated Inhibition of Axonal Regeneration: Past, Present, and Future

Pioneering studies conducted in the 1980’s laid the foundation for the hypothesis that axonal regeneration is limited by CNS myelin, and the identification of myelin-associated glycoprotein (MAG), Nogo, and oligodendrocyte myelin glycoprotein (OMgp) as inhibitors of neurite outgrowth firmly established myelin as a key factor in regenerative failure. Mechanistically, it has been shown that MAG, Nogo, and OMgp mediate inhibition by binding to either Nogo receptor (NgR) or paired immunoglobulin receptor B (PirB), and initiating a signaling cascade that culminates in the activation of RhoA. Since the discovery of these proteins, there has been tremendous interest in identifying compounds and m...
