En esta obra, el Grupo de Investigación en Salud Colectiva (gisc) de la Facultad de Odontología, que forma parte del Doctorado en Salud Pública de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, expone el debate más reciente entre dos corrientes de pensamiento: la salud pública y la salud colectiva. El propósito de este trabajo es ofrecer al lector un panorama crítico de estas corrientes, junto con sus vacíos, aportes y desafíos al área de la salud, a la luz de las crecientes inequidades que tienen lugar en el territorio colombiano. Para ello, el grupo se enfoca en la formación de los trabajadores de la salud, por ser una de las funciones esenciales de la alma mater estrechamente vinculada a la investigación y la incidencia política.
