Political Capabilities in the Governance of Swiss Companies
Government and firms are in a relationship characterized by interdependence and uncertainty. Resource dependence theory advocates the establishment of linkages to critical external contingencies such as the government as a means to reduce uncertainty. The appointment of directors with the capability of establishing such linkages is a proposed mechanism of achieving this. This study analyses the board composition of Swiss companies with respect to such political capabilities. It establishes a measurement system of how to assess them, identifies predicting factors such as Swiss nationality and Industry characteristics while rejecting the notion that such capabilities can be directly linked to performance.
Pattern Recognition
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 43rd DAGM German Conference on Pattern Recognition, DAGM GCPR 2021, which was held during September 28 – October 1, 2021.
