Conservado en un manuscrito, probablemente autógrafo, de la Biblioteca Nacional de Madrid, es mucho más que un simple 'appendice' al primer diccionario de la Lengua española. Impreso aquí por primera vez, su aparición se convierte en un acontecimiento de primer orden para conocer la figura y la obra del insigne lexicógrafo, que legó una fuente imprescindible para el conocimiento del Siglo de Oro y de la historia de la lengua castellana. El "Tesoro" y su "Suplemento" tienen vigencia como documentos históricos únicos e imprescindibles, pero también como medio para entender que tales documentos sirven para formar el entorno cultural e ideológico que habitamos todos los días.
