Responsabilidade Objetiva na Lei Anticorrupção e Compliance
O objetivo desta obra é compatibilizar a previsão de responsabilidade objetiva das pessoas jurídicas pelas penas previstas na Lei Anticorrupção com o princípio da culpabilidade, permitindo a construção de uma política pública anticorrupção que envolva toda a sociedade. A imputação da conduta do representante da pessoa jurídica diretamente ao ente legal pode gerar a ineficácia da política pública anticorrupção, além de ser incompatível com o sistema de dupla imputação de pena prevista na lei, em razão de sua incompatibilidade com a teoria do órgão. Assim, a edificação de uma culpabilidade própria de empresa, calcada na teoria do defeito de organização e na adoção de mecanismos de "compliance" parece ser o melhor caminho. Portanto, o que se busca é uma solução interpretativa da responsabilidade objetiva da pessoa jurídica que gere uma política pública eficaz de combate à corrupção, que vise acima de tudo evitar a prática de atos de corrupção, respeitando o princípio constitucional da culpabilidade. Menos penas e mais controle prévio.

De Sphaera of Johannes de Sacrobosco in the Early Modern Period
This open access book explores commentaries on an influential text of pre-Copernican astronomy in Europe. It features essays that take a close look at key intellectuals and how they engaged with the main ideas of this qualitative introduction to geocentric cosmology. Johannes de Sacrobosco compiled his Tractatus de sphaera during the thirteenth century in the frame of his teaching activities at the then recently founded University of Paris. Military Orders in the Early Modern Portuguese World
During the sixteenth, seventeenth, and eighteenth centuries, the three Portuguese military orders of Christ, Santiago and Avis became that kingdom's most important institutions for rewarding services to the Crown. Membership in these military orders was highly prized as status symbols and because of the orders' "purity of blood" statutes, these knighthoods were more highly esteemed than mere patents of nobility, especially since such knighthoods automatically ennobled. Francis A. Dutra has written widely on the Portuguese military orders of Christ, Santiago and Avis - a topic generally neglected by students of early modern Portugal. This volume brings together a selection of his pioneering essays. Based extensively on archival research, they reflect his special interest in social mobility and use of the knighthoods for patronage, while particular sections focus on the role of the orders in the Portuguese maritime expansion and in India and Brazil, and on the medical profession. The collection includes English translations of four studies that originally appeared in Portuguese, as well as a detailed index, in itself a useful research tool.
