Love and Care for the Marginalized is a 40-day meditational for Catholics based on reflections from popes, saints, religious leaders, movie quotes, and others on how God speaks to each of us about the importance of outreaching to those who have been hurt, rejected, and marginalized. Whether you are on the giving or receiving end in terms of marginalization, we have all experienced the world's treatment of those who are uncared for and unloved. Each meditation includes a quote, reflection, a prayer, and a call to action. The book is based on the command of Christ in the Biblical book of Matthew 25 where Jesus talks about the importance of loving and caring for those in greatest need and acting on their behalf. This book will help the reader to reflect upon the importance of making a difference for those who are alone, rejected and forgotten. The book was born out of much reflection, thought and most of all, prayer.
Hearts Burning Within Us
Over two thousand years ago two disillusioned disciples walked along a dusty road to Emmaus. They had just witnessed Jesus their friend and leader whom they hoped to be the messiah suffer a gruesome death by crucifixion. Doubt, fear, and uncertainty clouded their conversation as they journeyed home questioning the future. Until something miraculous happened...the risen Jesus appeared and answered their questions. Today, many young Catholics step onto college campuses with numerous questions about their faith yearning to know if the seed of faith given to them as a child is both true and practical. Using the miracle on the road to Emmaus as a model, young adult ministers conversed weekly for three months with college students about the most pressing questions they had about the Catholic faith. As they journeyed together (virtually) something amazing happened... doubts disappeared, fears faded, and Jesus revealed that He is still alive. Hearts Burning Within Us is a result of that grace-infused Conversation, and we pray that as you read these pages The Holy Spirit will set your heart aflame like the disciples on the road to Emmaus.
The Palladino Family in America
The family surname is derived from the Italian first name Paladino. The first recorded Paladino was a medieval knight and the nephew to the Holy Roman Emperor Charlemagne, 742-814 AD. Many romantic fables are told of Charlemagne and his paladins. The most famous of the paladins was Roland, the favorite nephew of Charlemagne. It is Roland, the Italian, bestowed by Charlemagne with the name Paladin, who may be our famous ancestral noble Cavaliere that all Palladino's and modern-day Pauldine's are descended from. genealogy and objective interpretation of these topics can spell the difference between real family history and fanciful family folklore. It is in a whimsical and fanciful vein that I portend that the Palladino and modern-day Pauldine clan is in some way related to the famous Holy Roman Emperor Charlemagne and his equally famous nephew, Roland the Paladin. But, who knows! Perhaps a future Palladino explorer with the inclination and, more importantly, possessing very deep pockets, might one day embark on the eternal quest for the truth and in the process even perchance recover Roland's magical sword, Durandal.
