The Department of Statistical Sciences of the University of Bologna in collaboration with the Department of Management and Engineering of the University of Padova, the Department of Statistical Modelling of Saint Petersburg State University, and INFORMS Simulation Society sponsored the Seventh Workshop on Simulation. This international conference was devoted to statistical techniques in stochastic simulation, data collection, analysis of scientific experiments, and studies representing broad areas of interest. The previous workshops took place in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1994, 1996, 1998, 2001, 2005, and 2009. The Seventh Workshop took place in the Rimini Campus of the University of Bologna, which is in Rimini’s historical center.

Beards and Texts explores the literary portrayal of beards in medieval German texts from the mid-twelfth to the early sixteenth centuries. It argues that as the pre-eminent symbol for masculinity the beard played a distinctive role throughout the Middle Ages in literary discussions of such major themes as majesty and humanity. A Companion to Paul in the Reformation
The reception and interpretation of the writings of St Paul in the early modern period forms the subject of this volume, from late medieval Paulinism and the beginnings of humanist biblical scholarship and interpretation, through the ways that theologians of various confessions considered Paul. Beyond the ways that theological voices construed Paul, several articles examine how Pauline texts impacted other areas of early modern life, such as political thought, the regulation of family life, and the care of the poor. Throughout, the volume makes clear the importance of Paul for all of the confessions, and denies the confessionalism of previous historiography. The chapters, written by experts in the field, offer a critical overview of current research, and introduce the major themes in Pauline interpretation in the Reformation and how they are being interpreted at the start of the 21st century.
