Not a Reference Yet aims to add a drop into a pool of a common quest towards the cultural decolonisation of graphic design education and industry. In this book, we investigate the mechanisms around referencing in academia and the practice of visual communication. We believe that references and referencing, as political objects and actions, have a big part to play in making our industry open up to become more inclusive and diverse. By connecting the dots between different researchers and design practitioners, we learn to navigate and swim our way through the pool of various concepts and theories. The use of diffraction imaging to complement the seismic reflection method is rapidly gaining momentum in the oil and gas industry.
