This is a collection of poems gathered here to, well, warm you. I love fire, am fascinated by it. I love its light, its power, its inherent risk, the fact you can cook with it, that you only need a tiny spark to give life to something much, much bigger. Yes, sometimes it burns you, but surely that's worth all the good things it's done. May these poems feed you, share their light, warm you on the inside, and if some burn you, they probably burned me too. So I've written others in the hope of soothing those burns, and included some of those in this collection too.

Firmly set in the period of Pulp and Noir tales of the twentieth century in an unnamed American city -Beat To A Pulp delivers poetry that is full of the jive talk you would expect to read in Hammett, Chandler and Spillane. Its a Beat Poet delivering his version of a Pulp fiction. It's straight from the fridge, and if you've got your boots on you will dig the jive and imagine what happens when the canary sings. There is also a collection of six illustrations created by artist Mark Head -which add to the experience of a poetry collection with a difference.

These are poems about memory, place, and growing up. These are poems about the things that happen and the people you meet along the way. Fleeting encounters on sleeper trains, becoming invisible in a Japanese mega-city, growing up in a house on a hill in the woods glimpsing the whole of London from the back bedroom window, and dreaming, and becoming entranced by the neon. But most of all, these are poems about the woods. The forest. The trees. Obscuring memories, perhaps, as well as the view. Lonely autumn walks through a leafy copse, imagining other places, other existences. This collection of poems from Robert Garnham is subtly autobiographical and layered in surprising ways which takes th...

The European Garden Flora Flowering Plants

The European Garden Flora is the definitive manual for the accurate identification of cultivated ornamental flowering plants. Designed to meet the highest scientific standards, the vocabulary has nevertheless been kept as uncomplicated as possible so that the work is fully accessible to the informed gardener as well as to the professional botanist. This new edition has been thoroughly reorganised and revised, bringing it into line with modern taxonomic knowledge. Although European in name, the Flora covers plants cultivated in most areas of the United States and Canada as well as in non-tropical parts of Asia and Australasia. Volume 5 completes the series, and includes many important ornamental families, such as Labiatae, Solanaceae, Scrophulariaceae, Acanthaceae, Campanulaceae, and the largest family of Dicotyledons, the Compositae.
