Inhabitation
This innovative new book contributes greatly to important emerging and interdisciplinary fields of research within performance studies, such as the problems of art and activism, spectator engagement, artistic research, and an ecology of aesthetic attention and perception. The author combines artistic practice and scholarly engagement with critical theory, which contributes to the research environment for both researchers and practitioners in the arts. This book moves beyond the former art and performance participatory paradigm into a new one, which the author conceptualizes as ‘Inhabitation’. Inhabitational art works move beyond both spectatorship and temporary participation and invite the ‘audience-participant’ to live inside the artwork. It also introduces the notion of ‘democratizing the aesthetic’ as a new artistic and didactic strategy, carving the path towards more sustainable futures through the stimulation of ecologic connectedness unfolding in highly sensuous (sensory-evoking) spaces.

Marina Allemano er litteraturforsker, født i Danmark, men har levet det meste af sit liv i Canada, hvor hun også har taget sin universitetsuddannelse. Hun har undervist i skandinavisk litteratur i en årrække og taget bl.a. Henrik Ibsen, August Strindberg, H-C. Andersen, Karen Blixen, Agnes Henningsen og Suzanne Brøgger under behandling. 2004 udgav Gyldendal hendes introduktion til sidstnævntes forfatterskab. I Hav-frue er det blevet Hanne Marie Svendsens tur. Bogen udkom oprindeligt i 2010. Og det er en yderst grundig og indsigtsfuld gennemgang af forfatterskabet, Allemano præsenterer. Hun kommer ind på den biografiske baggrund for forfatterskabet, men det er værkerne, der står i centrum, lige fra Mathildes drømmebog over Guldkuglen og Under solen til Nilaus under isen og Rudimenter af R. Allemano påviser påvirkninger og slægtskaber og demonstrerer, hvordan de forskellige temaer – havet, spejlet, forholdet mellem kønnene før og nu, rejsen som udviklingsmulighed, drifter og fortrængninger - og demonstrerer, gennemspilles og udvikler sig i romaner, noveller, børnebøger, radiospil m.m.
