In the early 1960s Biserka travelled over 16,000km on a boat from Yugoslavia to begin her new life in Australia and brought emotional heartache. However her tenacity shone through as she began her culinary arts journey with Sydney. After some classes in the 70s she began cooking for the continental crowd on the outskirts of south-western Sydney, then spread her wings via train to North Sydney to the business hub. Who could forget the emergence of brunch as a 'thing' during the 80s and Blues Point Café, where people lined up waiting to get a taste of Biserka's cooking. Biserka was innovative, brave and successful in all her kitchens and there were a few. Even the great journalists from the ABC, women like Carolyn Jones & Geraldine Doogue dined regularly at her restaurant and probably still dream of the special soufflés she prepared for their crew at lunchtimes.

Diaghilev's Ballets Russes

The era of the Ballets Russes is probably the most chronicled in dance history, yet this book is the first to explain the company as a totality--its art, enterprise, and tudience. Taking a fresh look at familiar sources and incorporating fascinating archival material previously unexamined by Diaghilev scholars, Lynn Garafola paints an extraordinary portrait of the Ballets Russes, one that is bound to upset received opinion about the wellsprings and impact of early modernism.
