1997 fand im Kunsthaus Bregenz die große Personale Per Kirkeby statt und es erschien das umfassende Werkverzeichnis zur Backsteinskulptur und Architektur. Per Kirkeby übereignete im Zuge der Ausstellungs- und Publikationsvorbereitungen dem Kunsthaus eine Schenkung von über zweihundert großformatigen Originalzeichnungen, so dass sich heute im Archiv des Kunsthaus Bregenz die bedeutendste Sammlung zu Kirkebys architektonischem Schaffen findet.
