B In 1790, the population of Calais is said to have been only sixteen; in 1800, it was about 100 in 1810, some 200 in 1820, 418; in 1830, 1686; in 1840, 2934; in 1850, 4749 in in The valu ation of taxable property in Calais in 1851, was $824, 932 in 1856, in 1866, in 1874, but these figures represent only about two thirds of the actual, market value of the property.
