Carl Eduard Cramer
Am 26. 4. 1817 wurde in Langenbach/Vogtland der Privatgelehrte, Journalist, Redakteur, Schriftsteller und kleinbürgerliche demokratische Publizist Carl Eduard Cramer geboren. Zum Andersdenken an einen Patrioten und Revolutionär, der lediglich mit Worten argumentierte. Als Redakteur der "Sächsischen Vaterlands-Blätter" in Leipzig berichtete er über politisch Verfolgte und prangerte die Zustände im Land an. Dabei ging es ihm vor allem um die Pressefreiheit, Gerichtsreform, Erweiterung der verfassungsmäßigen Rechte der Bevölkerung und das halbfeudale Polizeiregime. Der erbitterte Protest gegen die Obrigkeit führte dazu, dass Cramer zu hohen Geldstrafen verurteilt oder sogar inhaftiert wurde. Carl Cramer war einer der Führer des gemäßigten antirepublikanischen Flügels der sächsischen Vaterlandsvereine und trat für die "konstitutionelle Monarchie" ein. Er war in mehreren Vereinen Mitglied und lernte dadurch viele Persönlichkeiten in Leipzig kennen, wie z.B. seinen Freund Robert Blum.
