Elites santistas
Esta obra fundamenta-se num estudo da trajetória, do cotidiano e das relações da elite santista que habitava os palacetes do final do século XIX e início do século XX. Período em que a cidade de Santos centrava suas ações no porto, tendo no comércio exportador de café sua principal atividade. As fontes de pesquisa proporcionam a possibilidade de um diálogo constante entre a bibliografia e a iconografia, bastante usadas nos dois primeiros capítulos do livro, nos quais são analisadas as transformações da malha urbana, do porto e da arquitetura de Santos. Em relação à análise de documentos iconográficos, o estudo das edificações remanescentes, in loco, possibilitou uma investigação mais próxima do objeto trabalhado. Já a fonte oral, entrevistas com pessoas ligadas ou descendentes das elites santistas – grupo de comissários de café, construtores e corretores – e um acervo de imagens permitiram examinar o modo de viver das famílias, trabalhadas no terceiro capítulo.
