In the high-stakes world of racing, the risks are even greater off the track. A lot has changed for Luna Perez, reluctant part-owner of her brother’s racing team. She’s traded her private life for the spotlight, wooing sponsors, travelling the globe—oh, and falling for glamorous, infamous Devin Flynn, her brother’s rival and racing’s most eligible bachelor. No one thought Devin could be tamed, but he’s head over heels for quiet, fierce Luna. She’s never been happier… but it’s hard to ignore the swirling rumors about Devin’s playboy past. Enter Blake Carlton, champion driver and fan favorite. Blake claims he wants to drive for Team Perez, but is it the team he’s set his sights on, or Luna herself? Blake will do anything to sabotage her relationship with Devin, and Devin is ready to fight back. As the rivalry between the two drivers heats up, Luna must navigate secrets, lies, and her own tumultuous past, all under the glare of the paparazzi’s cameras. At the end of the chase, only one man will cross the finish line and claim Luna’s heart.
The two main characters of this book are places rather than people: The first is the beloved little Church on Main Street with many members flowing in and out as time goes by and their lives becoming inextricably woven into the actions of all the others. The second is the gathering place at Groques Mountain where the descendants of Henry Groques of Revolutionary War fame gather periodically to conduct family business or for recreation and family reunion. The place itself is a good influence to tie the family members together in close harmony. This book is dedicated to my late wife, Virginia, who died the day after Mothers Day in 2005. Although this book is fiction, some ideas came from newspaper accounts of actual happenings. For example: Social Security has never been secure. Churches have thrived in store fronts and even over a gas station in Arlington, VA. Your Government continues to confiscate land from its citizens without paying just compensation. Drug dealers do exist. So does the IRS. Because this book is for and about Christians, I guarantee that there is no scx, violence or nasty language. But there is comedy and history for you to enjoy, or to give to another Christian.
