In 1985, winemaker Joe Benziger and Sonoma artist Bob Nugent struck on the idea of putting original art on special releases of Imagery Estate wines. The goal was straight-forward: commission the world's modern art luminaries to create works for reproduction onto wine labels. Two decades and 160 labels later, they have assembled a staggering collection of contemporary art, from the likes of Sol Lewitt, Terry Winters, Nancy Graves, John Baldessari, Judy Pfaff, and Bob Arneson. This book highlights 133 works of art, the best of the Imagery collection. The images are big and lush, and accompanied by biographical sketches of the artists' careers, as well as a short description of their individual ideas and methods. The pictorial index shows the works in their label-form, from 1985 to the most recent vintages. These images are evocations of wine's multi-faceted ability to inspire us.

This volume highlights the work of contemporary Brazilian photographers with an emphasis on images which reflect the dynamism and eclecticism of Brazilian society. The editor has collected the work of 21 of Brazil's most prominent photographers and accompanies their work with a commentary describing the new uses of photography within the contemporary arts and the burgeoning alternatives to traditional photography. The book begins with an historical overview, continuing with the experiences of the independent photo agencies of the 1970s, the creative surge in the 80s, and the recent emergence of photography as a means of personal and artistic expression. The direct participation of indigenous authors and photographers from all regions of Brazil allows this book to show how writers and artists see themselves and their work in a de-exoticized framework.

Since 1993, Maur'cio Dias and Walter Riedweg have been developing a collaborative work that probes the relationship between ethics and aesthetics through precise interventions in specific individual and group situations. Their methods, ranging from scientific documentation to complex video dramatizations, focus especially on issues associated with identity and the tension between group and individual mechanisms. The direct involvement of the public in their work process is crucial. This catalogue contains a retrospective of their works to date, including Voracidad mxima, their joint project for the Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona. The enclosed DVD includes a video fragment from that piece, which explores the relationship between sexuality and economics and was made in cooperation with male sex workers from the museum's neighborhood, El Raval.
